Why dark moon rest is so important and how our method aligns it to the sign of virgo.
Sep 19, 2025Let go, relax & replenish your energy at the end of the lunar cycle
The Dark Moon ritual is where the magic happens! By honoring our need for deep rest, we here at Universal Movement recognise that the dark moon is one of the most important times of the lunar cycle.
As the dark moons energy and our personal energy levels are their lowest point, this is an opportunity to let go, surrender and reset, allowing us to unwind, relax and take some much need time out for ourselves. If we push ourselves day after day without giving in to rest during the waning and dark moon phase, it can lead to a continuous depletion of our physical and emotional reserves, culminating in exhaustion, particularly as the full moon approaches.
Take a pause and join us in honoring the significance of deep rest with this Yoga Nidra meditation led by Alexe, Universal Movement founder and methodology creator. This ceremony is a unique opportunity for us to rest and replenish while engaging in practices of restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra meditation, and letting-go visualisation techniques, guiding you to release and embrace renewal.
What are the benefits of this Yoga Nidra meditation and how can I link this to Virgo season?
Our relaxation and Yoga Nidra meditations offer a range of benefits for both the body and mind. Here are some key benefits of how Yoga Nidra meditation helps with processing emotions:
β¨ Emotional Regulation: Yoga nidra meditation serves as a powerful tool for emotional regulation by inducing a state of deep relaxation. In this state, individuals are better equipped to manage their emotions, allowing them to respond to challenging situations with a greater sense of calm and composure.
β¨ Reduced Emotional Reactivity: Through regular practice, Yoga nidra has been shown to decrease emotional reactivity. This means that individuals become less likely to experience intense emotional responses to triggers, enabling them to navigate emotional turbulence with greater stability and resilience.
β¨ Increased Self-Awareness: Yoga nidra meditation encourages individuals to explore their inner landscape, including their emotions, thoughts, and sensations. By cultivating this self-awareness, individuals can gain insight into the root causes of their emotions, empowering them to make informed choices about how to respond to them.
β¨ Acceptance and Non-Judgment: One of the fundamental principles of yoga nidra is the practice of acceptance and non-judgment. By creating a safe space for individuals to experience their emotions without fear of criticism or rejection, yoga nidra fosters a sense of self-compassion and acceptance that can be transformative in the processing of emotions.
β¨ Emotional Healing: Yoga nidra provides a supportive environment for emotional healing and release. By allowing individuals to access deeply held emotions and traumas, yoga nidra meditation facilitates the healing process, enabling individuals to work through unresolved emotional wounds and find a sense of closure and peace.
β¨ Improved Mood: Studies have demonstrated that yoga nidra can have a positive impact on mood and emotional well-being. By promoting feelings of inner peace, contentment, and happiness, yoga nidra uplifts the spirit and fosters a sense of emotional balance and harmony.
β¨ Enhanced Coping Strategies: Through regular practice, individuals develop coping strategies for managing and navigating difficult emotions. By cultivating mindfulness and self-awareness, individuals learn to recognize the early signs of emotional distress and implement effective coping mechanisms to prevent escalation.
β¨ Integration of Mind and Body: Yoga nidra recognizes the intimate connection between the mind and body in the experience of emotions. By incorporating techniques that address both the physical and mental aspects of emotional processing, yoga nidra offers a holistic approach that promotes integration and balance.
β¨ Long-Term Emotional Resilience: As individuals deepen their practice of yoga nidra, they cultivate long-term emotional resilience. By strengthening their capacity to navigate the ebb and flow of emotions with grace and equanimity, individuals develop a robust inner resilience that enables them to weather life's challenges with greater ease and fortitude.
Yoga nidra meditation aids in emotional processing on many levels by promoting relaxation, reducing reactivity, increasing self-awareness and teaching acceptance. It also facilitates healing, alleviate stress and improves your mood. By enhancing coping strategies, integrating mind and body, you will also cultivate long-term resilience.

What do I need for this dark moon, Yoga Nidra meditation?
ποΈ Quiet Space: Choose a quiet and comfortable space where you won't be disturbed. Ideally, the room should be dimly lit or with the option to darken it.
ποΈ Yoga Mat or Comfortable Surface: Lay down a yoga mat, blanket, or any comfortable surface to lie on. You want to be able to fully relax without any discomfort. You can also do this practice on your bed for the ultimate comfort.
ποΈ Pillow & Blankets: Have a blanket nearby to cover yourself. During a relaxation practice, body temperature can drop, so it's essential to stay warm. Place a pillow under your head or beneath your knees for added comfort. This can help alleviate any strain on your lower back.
